In “The Salon of 1846,” chapter VI, ‘Some colorists,’ Baudelaire comments: “‘L’École turque,’ nevertheless, resembles these strong paintings. These are exactly those handsome children that we know, and the dusty atmosphere, suffused with light, of a room which the Sun would like to completely invade.”
