A window on contemporary art in the minimalist and conceptual tradition of Marcel Duchamp opens up September 24 – 26 at Artcurial Paris, which previews 60 works amassed by collector and auctioneer Vincent Wapler before they’re auctioned off September 27. “Vincent Wapler’s collection is marked by a passion for a specialized and intellectual art form, minimal and conceptual,” says the auction house’s director for Europe, Martin Guesnet. Above: Bernd & Hilla Becher, “Watertowers A,” 1988. Nine silver prints. Collection Vincent Wapler. Artcurial pre-sale estimation: 80,000 – 120,000 Euros. We like this oeuvre because we associate water-towers with the skyline of New York, part of an eternal New York which, 15 years after September 11, 2001, remains unchanged.
